Nene Valley Churches- Fotheringhay & Warmington

Nene Valley Churches- Fotheringhay

As a spin off from the Oundle Organ Festival and Summer Schools, and from the inspiration of James Parsons, interesting pipe organs have been springing up in the Nene Valley. Fotheringhay, where James Parsons is organist, has a 2000 instrument by Vincent Woodstock, and Warmington (not to be confused with Walmington-on Sea- don't panic!) has recently acquired the Grand, Degens and Bradbeer instrument formerly in Cranleigh School Chapel. Fotheringhay castle (or what's left of it, ie a small pile of stones) played an important part in English History- Richard III was born there, and Mary, Queen of Scots, was imprisoned and executed there- plaques to this effect can be found on the railings surrounding the castle remains.
