New Year's Day Parade, London 2012
My first visit to this event, which I soon reckoned contained the world's largest concentration of Sousaphones, thanks to all the marching bands (why only one UK marching band, I wonder- I'm sure there are plenty out there!)- can't imagine all the excess luggage charges! From my vantage point outside the Ritz Hotel (until the rain came, fortunately towards the end of the parade setting off), I was well placed to see many of the participants, and here are a selection of the photos of the parade. Wider shots come from the Fujifilm X100 and I was also equipped with GF2 sporting a Canon EF-S 85mm f1.8, which dealt with the close-ups, but which also had to be manually focused and by necessity (a 'dumb' Canon>M43 adapter) wide open- so I wasn't nailing focus spot-on everytime, but a really good way to practise!
